Here’s the scoop. The Capitol Deal, a commercial product of The Washington Post, provides access to the best deals for businesses in the Washington metro area. Our goal at The Capitol Deal is to deliver great deals on dining, entertainment, fashion, home, travel and more!
2. What happened to The Capitol Dish?
The Capitol Dish expanded to become The Capitol Deal, so we can bring you even more great deals – everyday. You can still expect 3 great dish deals a week!
3. How do I register for The Capitol Deal?
Subscribing to the list is free, quick and easy! All you have to do is enter your e-mail address, click the subscribe button and you will get deals sent free to your e-mail inbox. Or if you’re on facebook, you can click on the “facebook connect” icon and fill out the necessary information.
4. Do I need to register with The Capitol Deal if I’m already registered with The Capitol Dish?
If you have already registered with The Capitol Dish, your information will automatically be transferred to The Capitol Deal – same username, same password.
5. I have some credits that I haven’t used with The Capitol Dish, will I lose them?
No, you will not lose those credits. The credits, along with your account information, will be transferred to The Capitol Deal. Now you can use those hard-earned credits towards great Dish, Cap or Getaway deals!
6. Does it cost me anything to become a member of The Capitol Deal?
Membership to The Capitol Deal is absolutely free!
7. What is your refund policy?
If you decide you no longer want your unused voucher, The Capitol Deal will provide a refund within 21 days of your purchase only. (Note: Your voucher must be unused to be refunded.) Refunds for certain types of deals (including ticketed events, punch cards and savings cards) may carry different refund policies, which are described on the deal page and on your voucher. Unused vouchers for merchants that have gone out of business will always be refunded.
8. How do I purchase a deal?
Simply click “Buy Now” before the deal ends. You will then be directed to verify your account information, confirm the deal quantity you wish to purchase and then enter your payment information. Your credit card will be charged and your voucher will be emailed to you (voucher can also be located in your account) upon completion of payment.
9. How long do I have to purchase a deal on the website?
New deals are now available Monday through Friday. Each deal is typically available for two days. Periodically, we will feature deals that are available for longer than two days. The particular deadlines for each deal are listed within all of the deal information.
10. Can I view my orders on the site and reprint if I need to?
Yes, you can click on “Order History” and find all of your transactions listed there. Also, this page allows you to re-print your voucher if you need to.
11. Do I need to print my voucher?
You may either print your voucher or show your voucher on your smart phone. Whether printed or shown from a mobile device, vouchers must be presented to the business at the time of use.
12. Can I buy a Capitol Deal as a gift for someone else?
Yes, you can purchase deals for your friends and family. When completing the payment for a deal, simply include the person’s name you wish to have appear on the voucher.
13. What credit cards are accepted?
Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.
14. How will this order appear on my credit card?
"The Capitol Deal" will appear on your statement.
15. What do I get for referring a friend?
When you refer THREE friends to the same deal, you get yours FREE! You must first buy a deal in order to be eligible for getting it free. After you purchase a deal, you'll be given a unique web link to share with your friends. The friends you share that link with must use that link to purchase their deal. Refund only applies to one voucher per deal.
16. How do I unsubscribe?
To unsubscribe from The Capitol Deal emails, simply click the “opt-out of this newsletter only” link at the bottom of any email you receive. We’ll miss you terribly, but you can come back at any time.

19. How are reviews selected?
While The Capitol Deal is part of The Washington Post, we look to a variety of sources' opinions on Washington area businesses. When we decide which businesses we like and wish to feature, we point to positive reviews that support our decision.
20. How do I earn credits on The Capitol Deal?
From time to time we may offer the opportunity to earn credits on the site. In those instances, the specific rules around how those credits can be earned and when they expire will be explained when they are introduced. Below are a couple of existing programs in place. Each of these programs may be changed at any time. Please note that all credits on the site are valid towards purchases on the site only and do not have cash value.
1. Refer a Friend
- Go to thecapitoldeal.com and click on “Get $10”'
- Use the exact link listed in the popover box to share with your friends, family and co-workers via Facebook and/or Twitter.
- When one of the people you share with makes their first purchase from The Capitol Deal within 180 days, you will be notified via email that a $10 credit was automatically added to your account. (NOTE: The person you refer must make a purchase using a credit card -- not using credit -- in order to qualify toward your referral credit.)
- Once added to your account, the credit is valid for use for 180 days.
- There is no limit to how many credits you can receive for your referrals, so share, share, share!
2. Refer 3 Get Yours Free
- When you refer THREE friends to the same deal, you get yours FREE! You must first buy a deal in order to be eligible for getting it free. After you purchase a deal, you'll be given a unique web link to share with your friends. The friends you share that link with must use that link to purchase their deal. Refund only applies to one voucher per deal.
21. What do I do if my voucher expires?
When a voucher expires, it loses its promotional value; however, you will still be entitled to goods and services equal to the amount you paid for the voucher for a period of five years from the activation date. See Terms of Service for more information.

23. How will my Capitol Deal purchase appear on my credit card statement?
For purchases made with Visa, MasterCard and Discover, "The Capitol Deal" will appear on your credit card statement. For purchases made with American Express cards, "SSM*Photos&Giftcard" will appear on your statement.
24. I received a coupon credit code. How do I redeem it?
To redeem a coupon credit code, simply log in to your Capitol Deal account and select the deal(s) that equal or are higher than the price specified by the coupon code (ex: "$5 off a purchase of $20 or more"). Add the deal(s) to your cart and proceed to checkout. On the checkout screen, enter the code in the "Optional Promotion Code" box at the top of the page and click "Apply." Each coupon code is restricted to one use per account.
Note: Coupon codes received via D.C. blogs are valid for $5 off a purchase of $20 or more through 8/31/12 only.
25. I'm a PostPoints member who is new to The Capitol Deal. How do I get my 500 points for registering?
All you need to do is create a purchaser account on thecapitoldeal.com. During the registration form, you will enter your PostPoints Member number in the appropriate field (if you're a Silver member, enter 'SILVER') and we'll make sure the 500 points are deposited in to your PostPoints account. Click "Register Now" at the top of the screen to start your registration.
26. How do I get points for my deal purchases?
We're glad you asked! For every purchase you make on thecapitoldeal.com, you'll also earn 25 PostPoints. Simply enter your PostPoints number in the appropriate field at checkout (if you're a Silver member, enter 'SILVER') and we'll make sure the points are deposited in to your PostPoints account. Note: Offer is not valid for deals obtained by use of credits only or for free promotions or deals. *During the month of February, you can earn 100 points for every purchase! Offer ends 2/28/13.
